DISCIPLESHIP
Discipleship is the process of embracing life with Jesus Christ and being transformed into his likeness. Here at Crossroads, we believe that discipleship is a lifelong process that is done best within Christian community and we are passionate about helping people do that. As a way to live into that, we offer Alpha, Grow Groups, and Discipleship Bands as ways for people to grow deeper in Christ and get connected within in the body of Crossroads.

As grandparents, there is nothing more important we can do than to help make God a real and relevant part of our grandchildren’s lives - to invest in our future generations by intentionally passing on to them the transformative torch of our Christian faith. Legacy Grandparenting is ecumenical Christian training that equips and encourages grandparents to speak God’s truth and hope into the young people they love! And now it’s coming to Crossroads!
Mark your calendars for October 20-21 when the 2023 Legacy Grandparenting Summit will be simulcast at Crossroads and to hundreds of other sites across the U.S. from Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, TX, featuring over a dozen renowned speakers and authors whose enthusiasm and expertise will ignite your passion for becoming INTENTIONAL Christian grandparents! Summit registration begins in June, so spread the word and invite your friends!
If you or your Grow Group would like to preview Legacy’s ideals before signing up, join us for a six-week video series featuring Legacy Coalition founder (and former senior executive of Awana) Larry Fowler. The study will be held at Crossroads on Thursday evenings June 1st thru July 6th from 6:30 to 8:00 in the Lounge and will be hosted by Bart & Mary Penn, who can also answer any questions you may have about the intro study, the Summit, or the podcasts, webinars, printed resources, etc. provided by the Legacy Coalition. Alpha
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions over an 11-week period where anyone can explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha explores the big issues around faith and unpacks the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as "Who is Jesus?" and "How can we have faith?"
Where is Alpha run?
Alpha is run all around the globe, and now it is here at Crossroads!
What should I expect at Alpha?
At Alpha, we eat dinner together, watch a video, and then discuss the video and some questions in small groups. In the groups, there is no obligation to say anything, and there is nothing you can't say! It is an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.
I have been a Christian for many years. Is Alpha for me?
Yes! Alpha is for everyone. We have found that Alpha has been meaningful to both new believers and seasoned Christians alike.
How much does Alpha cost?
Alpha is free and dinner is included every week. Childcare is also provided.
"The biggest thing I gained from Alpha is a real understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in us and through us. Knowing that I have that direct connection with God and that He can use that to accomplish His will through me is very powerful. Without Alpha I probably would have missed out on that." -Past Alpha Participant

Grow Groups
Grow Groups are the main way we take the next steps in being disciples here at Crossroads. Grow Groups are groups of 10-12 that meet regularly to study the Word, share support, and to connect. So many of our groups quickly become like family, and their group is a major part of their lives. We have groups for whatever you need- young adults, couples, families with kids, women or men only... you name it! E-mail Leslie Anderson, our Director of Connections, and let her know what kind of group you're looking for. She'll be happy to help!
I can't be in a Grow Group because I'm too busy in the evenings.
We have several groups that meet on Sunday mornings and various other times during the day. We can find one that works for you!
I can't be in a Grow Group because I need childcare.
Childcare is offered at Crossroads for many Grow Groups that meet at the church! We love to care for your kids, so don't let childcare keep you from joining a group.
I'm worried that I may not be able to attend every week.
No Worries! Some groups don't even meet weekly and the ones that do understand when members miss for work and family obligations.
I don't want to be asked to pray out loud or prepare a lesson.
You won't be asked to do those things. Grow Groups have existing leaders and know how to integrate new members in a safe and loving way.
Are there truly that many people in Grow Groups?
Yes! Crossroads has 300+ people active in Grow Groups. You don't want to miss out!
I'm afraid that I won't "fit" in the group that I'm assigned.
It happens! But, it is not a problem. The Director of Connections will simply move you to another group. A good fit is a high priority and everyone understands that. There is no embarrassment or hard feelings.

"I grew up believing in God, but not knowing much about His word - my family didn't go to church. My Grow Group has taught me so much. We walk through and decipher different events to better understand what Jesus went through. They have been a tremendous help walking me through my forgiveness process, which was a 14-year battle." -Grow Group Member
Discipleship Bands
What is a Discipleship Band?
A discipleship band is a group of 3 to 5 people who read together, pray together, and meet to become the love of God for one another and the world.
Who is a Discipleship Band for?
Anyone who desires to grow in love for God and neighbor.
Who should I ask to be in a Discipleship Band with me?
You may choose people in your life who you already feel a sense of spiritual connection with or friends whom you have known for some time and who also have a desire to grow deeper in their faith.
What if I am already in a small group?
Hopefully your band is complimentary to other groups you are involved with. This group will probably be smaller than other groups you are in and will have a different focus.
Why are bands made up of members of the same gender?
It is recommended that bands are a single gender to increase the ability to share openly and honestly.
"My Discipleship Band is composed of 3 people. We meet every 2 weeks for one hour. This group has sustained me through a difficult summer, and I can't imagine doing life without them."
